New Student Application Process

Please be sure to select the correct year your student is applying for.
PLEASE NOTE: If you do/did not submit an online payment your application will not be processed. SMHS will not be able to view your application unless a payment has been submitted. Please allow 3-5 business days for your application to be processed.
Upon completion of the application, and submission of the $65 fee, once processed you will be able to access the links to complete the student checklist.
The Student Checklist will consist of the following:
Transcripts and Report Cards
- We must receive transcripts or report cards from the current academic year.
- All Transcripts/Report Cards must be uploaded as a PDF. A picture will not be accepted.
Immunization Records
- School Entry Requirements
- Exemption Form
- All Immunization Records must be uploaded as a PDF. A picture of the record will not be accepted.
Placement Testing
- Placement Tests are not used to determine a student's acceptance into SMHS. The Placement Testing will be at the discretion of the student's guardian. Placement Tests are used to evaluate a student's readiness for Algebra 1 and/or Honors Language Arts. If a student does not participate in the placement testing, they will be assigned into Pre-Algebra and/or Language Arts 7.

Written and Personal Interviews
- Student written questionnaire: students will hand-write on a number of topics and questions immediately before the personal interview.
- Student personal interview: students will interview with a member of either the faculty, school administration, or Board of Trustees.

Parent Interview
- Parents/Guardians will be provided with a link to access an online form. The form should not take more than 30-45 minutes to complete.
After the paperwork, testing, and interviews are complete, the admissions committee will meet to review applications and make final admissions decisions.
