Goals:

  1. Each Participant will create an initial home page for themselves.
  2. Each Participant will create the template for course categories.
  3. Each Participant will create the file structure for each class on a USB Key.

 

Goal 1 Tasks.

 

1.         Use Word or PowerPoint to create your initial home page.

  1. Include all relevant information i.e. telephone, E-mail, contact, room number,??
  2. List of classes, by period or by course name and period..
    1. Period 1—Advanced Technology
    2. Period 4—Computer Literacy
  3. Maybe include an interesting quote, or some general expectations, or what ever.
  4. A staff member may want to include procedures for getting service or important deadlines.
  5. Save file as a webpage (option found on FILE Menu Option).  Save to USB Key.

 

Goal 2 Tasks

  1. Decide the basic categories common to all courses, i.e. syllabus, assignments, class notes, web sites to check out.
  2. Use WORD or PowerPoint to create the template.
  3. Save file as Course.template on your USB Key.

 

Goal 3 Tasks

  1. Use Windows Explorer to Create a folder named with your last name on USB Key, i.e. ALLEN.  Windows Explorer is found under Accessories in Programs.  To create a new folder Choose FILE on Toolbar and select folder.

 

  1. Click on the folder just created and Create a sub-folder called Period 1 under your name on USB key

 

 

  1. Use the template from Word or PowerPoint (depending on which you used in Goal 2) to create a course file for the first period class. Call it Course.  Initially the file will be blank.

 

  1. Save COURSE as a web page on USB KEY in sub-folder called Period 1.

 

 

  1. Create a blank file for each category you determined in Goal 2.

 

  1. Save each blank file as a web page in period 1 sub folder
    1. Assignments
    2. Notes
    3. Announcements etc.

 

  1. For each category for which there will be multiple documents, ie. Assignments and notes, etc. create a subfolder in period 1 with that name.

 

  1. Return to Main folder, i.e Allen.

 

  1. Create a subfolder for each period you teach, besides period 1
    1. Period 2
    2. Period 3
    3. Period 6
    4. Period 7

 

  1. Open a second instance of Windows Explorer.  Go to your USB Key and Click on Period 1 Subfolder.  You should see all the files and subdirectories you created.  Under EDIT choose Select all.  Choose Copy.  Go to the other window and choose Period 2 and Paste.  Everything created in period 1 should now also be in period 2.

 

  1. Repeat the process until all the periods have the same files and folders in them.
